Trevor

Some people have been asking us about Trevor recently, from all over the country. Trevor is still here at the shelter. We are still searching for a home that meets all the requirements and there is work ongoing to try and relax some of the restrictions. If you live in Whitehorse and think you may be able to help Trevor, please contact the shelter.

The restrictions on Trevor are part of the court order and it is only the Supreme Court of the Yukon who can change or lift the restrictions.

  1. What are the restrictions that make it so hard to place Trevor? And who is it that can change them?

  2. But what are the restrictions?

  3. Hi Maureen, Trevor can't currently leave Whitehorse city limits. That has been our biggest challenge, because we've had a number of offers from people outside Whitehorse, and outside the Yukon, to take Trevor and help him complete his rehabilitation program.
    Thanks for your support,

  4. Thanks Rachel. This is very sad news. I hope that the restrictions can be changed. I cannot for the life of me see why the location for Trevor's rehabilitation is more important than the person doing the rehabilitation. If those who live outside the city limits are qualitfied and able to volunteer they should be given the chance. Perhaps being outside the city limit would mean that By-law no longer has a say in what happens but the Court still would. I hope that Trevor is given this chance.
